"What Love Is This? Suffering Servant - Conquering King"

    Date: March 29, 2019

(Rockford, IL) The Passion story vividly expresses God's endless love for the world as Jesus willingly lays down His life so that all might experience eternal life. "What Love Is This?" is a moving musical and worship experience as it walks through the last days of Christ's earthly life, from the jubilant entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and the difficult days of rejection and crucifixion to the triumphant resurrection of Easter Sunday. The fullest spectrum of music is represented in this dramatic thirty-five-minute work from composers Lloyd Larson, Mary McDonald, Brad Nix, Marty Parks, and Larry Shackley. Featured in our 10:00 a.m. worship service on Sunday, April 14.…

    Wednesday Noon 30-minute Worship Services

    Date: March 11, 2019

(Rockford, IL) During the 40 days of Lent, we will be meeting in the Chapel each Wednesday at noon for a 30 minute worship service. We hope this reminds us that the journey of Lent comes to us as a gift. It is a reminder to us to slow down, unplug ourselves, and be still and quiet in your presence.

Lord, it takes discipline for us to do this. We are addicted to instant access and immediate response. We are so used to being "on" that we have lost sight of our need for rest, for renewal and especially for you.

So, we thank you for the spiritual discipline of Lent. We lay aside our calendars and "to do" lists and focus instead on your gifts and blessings. We stop long enough to say "thank you" instead of running hurriedly and unappreciatively through our day.

We acknowledge the work of your grace in our lives -- and the reality that it is anything but "cheap." And, we wait. We wait expectantly and patiently for you to speak and to make yourself known to us in new and surprising ways. To this we commit ourselves this day, for the sake of Christ. Amen.…

  • Are You 'Made for a Miracle'?

Are You 'Made for a Miracle'?

    Date: March 5, 2019

(Rockford, IL) At some time in our lives, most of us have prayed for or hoped for a miracle—an event that seems impossible but is brought about by God’s transcendent power. But when miracles occur, did you know that you have a role to play?

If that’s true, what’s the catch? What do we have to do? What’s it going to cost us?

Popular author and pastor Mike Slaughter examines the two components of every miracle: divine action and human responsibility. For a real miracle to take place, we must act with God, using whatever gifts, talents, and abilities we have and directing them toward God’s work. We need to follow the examples of Mary in the birth of Jesus, Jesus’ followers when he healed them, and Jesus’ disciples after he rose from the dead.

This Lent use your God-given gifts and talents for God’s glory, and get ready to be made for a miracle. You are invited to a video-based study by Mike Slaughter:

    Sunday • March 10 • 11:30 a.m. • Church Parlor
    Pastor Cal, facilitator

    Friday • March 15 • 1:00 p.m. • 1812 Meadows Circle

Books are available for $14 through the church office
    Scholarships are available…
